About Me

Hailing from the picturesque St. Mary’s County, Maryland, Nick Browne (they/he) emerges as a vibrant force in the New York City indie theatre scene. As a versatile director, producer, and educator, Nick's journey is characterized by a commitment to new play development, boundary-pushing experiences, and a commitment to a values centered approach on each new endeavor.

Nick's portfolio showcases a rich tapestry of credits, including memorable works such as Ike Holter's blistering play HIT THE WALL at the National Historic Monument (The Stonewall Inn)  a production where "the walls of The Stonewall Inn nearly Vibrate while the performance is in motion"- No Proscenium. Nick also directed the world premiere production of Carol Mazhuvancheril's Song of Joy in a celebrated run at the Tank Theatre in NYC, described as "Must see, A gem of a play".

This June Nick will be returning to the Tank to direct Joey Merlo's Midnight Coleslaw's Tales From Beyond the Closet!!! An evening of queer horror hosted by the infamous Drag-Vamp, Midnight Coleslaw as she conjures a campy and terrifying evening of original subversive and spectacular one-acts.

Nick is an alumnus of Point Park University with a BFA in Acting, where they co-founded Pinnacle Productions, a student-run experimental theatre company that is still in operation today. Earning an MFA in Directing from Brooklyn College, Nick served as a teaching fellow and was honored with the 2020-2021 Shubert Foundation Scholarship. In conclusion, Nick's approach to directing is grounded in the belief that theater is a transformative space. It is a sacred art form that not only entertains but also challenges, heals, and fosters collective imagination.

Through their work they are committed to empower and honor the unique voice of each individual, particularly those who have been marginalized. Through theater, they seek to contribute to the transformation of both the artistic world and the broader society, envisioning a future rooted in compassion, understanding, and positive change.
